This is a wonderful introduction to the idea of detoxing. It will also give you an idea of how you will feel on a pure-food 1 day diet. And it will give you the confidence to tackle longer programs such as the popular weekend or 3-day detox. The program is simple: you just eat one type of raw fruit or vegetable for the entire day. The food most commonly chosen is organic grapes, but you can also consider apples, pears, carrots or even papaya.
If organic fruits or vegetables are not available, remove the peels before eating or juicing them.
Make sure you eat lightly the night before your one-day detox, and that you get plenty of rest.
Don’t over-indulge the day after – gently ease out of your detox with a light, healthy diet. Avoid foods that are full of sugar, caffeine, white flower, saturated fats, alcohol, etc.
Throughout the day, drink warm or cold filtered water or lemon water at any time and herbal teas as desired. (Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water during the day.)
On waking take a glass of filtered water and a glass of lemon water to pep up your liver. To make lemon water use ¼ cup fresh lemon juice and fill with filtered water to make 1 cup. (25/75 ratio)
Eat five small meals evenly spaced out during the day – breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. Each meal will be exactly the same, consisting of: grapes or your chosen fruit or vegetable and filtered water.
Before bed take a relaxing bath and go to bed early.
Do the 1-day detox once a week for four consecutive weeks, then do the 3-day herbal detox.
