It is my strong belief that herbalism is real. Firstly, I see herbs as plants like veggies. If veggies give the body nutrition or contribute to the wellness of the body due to what they offer, then herbs to me are that and more. Some herbs are not just nutritive but are also medicinal.
I have a personal experience with the herbs. If when I am experiencing a stomach discomfort, a terrible skin reaction, and or a headache, an infection in my private part to name a few, I feel better or rather cured by taking a proper herb for that condition without any conventional medication, that definitely makes a herb a real deal to me.
The truth is some of the herbs have not been researched enough for us to know what makes them effective and how that happens. However, that does not then make it unreal. I believe that God made all things and human beings are just discovering what already exist. Our lack of knowledge in a subject does not render it non-existent.
Secondly, they are not an end in themselves but a means (tools) to an end. God is the ultimate healer and the herbs are given to us by God as tools to lead our bodies to recovery when there was an imbalance that was brought about by the harmful microbes or lack of some important constituents that form part of the immune system.
Traditional medicine and western medicine are complementary to one another. What the other cannot achieve the other stands a chance to achieve in building a healthy body. For example, traditional medicine is not so strong when it comes to emergencies or life and death situations, but western medicine has made big strides in that division. Western medicine is currently struggling with antibiotics’ resistance, and this is where the traditional medicine comes in handy. Many herbs have good antibacterial properties, thus they can help in the fight of the bacteria without experiencing resistance.

I believe herbal medicines are essential if you are looking to prevent issues, maintain and bring your entire well being into a better state of health. Herbs help with the long term bigger picture of a person’s health i don’t believe that it is a quick fix for something major such as arthritis. I have also learned that there is no use trying to use herbs as we do normal over the counter medicines, yes you can treat symptoms with herbs, but then you are, to me, wasting the potential of the herbs abilities. Example, why go and just treat a cough when you can help support your entire lungs to prevent the cough in the first place.
The simplest form of synergy i an think of in my daily life would have to be cooking. I don’t just cook food for the sake of cooking food. I choose my ingredients carefully due to the fact that my daughter has IBS and in the past i have suffered badly with gastric ulcers. So when i cook i know that we don’t only need food, we also need to get in a few other things that can assist with our conditions and that’s when i add in my herbs, besides the whole dish at the end tastes all the better with those added herbs in it. So to me synergy is like a recipe, all individual ingredients that make up a dish.
